English is known to be one of the toughest languages to master - even when it's your native tongue. Luckily with this great challenge comes many resources, and even many now specifically geared towards those learning English as a Second Language (ESL) in the hospitality industry!
Chicago Resources:
- Chicago Public Library - The library offers a directory of online and local resources for learning English.
- ESL Chicago - This center offers many levels of English courses. Students earn certifications upon completion of these courses that are accepted by more than 650 colleges and universities worldwide as proof of the English proficiency required for admission.
- Stafford House - This school's combination of classes and social programmes allow students to gain full fluency for real world interactions.
- Teaching House - With free classes starting monthly, TH Chicago offers English classes to anyone interested in improving their English skills. Classes are conducted by enthusiastic teacher trainees, who are on their way to becoming certified ESL CELTA teachers.
