- About Our Partner, Turn.ai
Hiring the right talent quickly is essential in the hospitality industry. We understand that background checks are important, but that they can sometimes slow things down, leading to incomplete workflows and the risk of skipping important vetting steps just to save time.
We've partnered with Turn.ai to offer a fast, cost-effective background check solution directly on the CulinaryAgents.com platform. Now you can source, screen, and conduct thorough background checks all in one place, making your hiring process more efficient and reliable.
Process Overview
Our platform streamlines communication and manages third-party vetting, ensuring a smooth background check process from start to finish.
Before you can start using Background Check, the feature will need to be activated on your business profile by an Admin. Once it's up and running, the process is simple and efficient, consisting of the following steps:
- Background Check Request (Employer): Your team (e.g., Admin or Manager of business profile) can initiate a background check directly from the Candidate Dashboard.
- Consent (Candidate): The candidate is notified and can provide explicit consent for the background check to proceed on Culinary Agents.
- Processing (Turn.ai): Turn Technologies, our trusted third-party specialist, administers the background check.
- Data Review (Employer): Your team reviews the comprehensive background report provided by Turn Technologies.
Simple Pricing - One Flat Fee, No Hidden Costs
Traditional background checks can come with unpredictable costs, including base fees and additional local court fees, making it hard to know the final price. To solve this, we’ve developed two all-inclusive plans with transparent pricing based on your geographic location — no hidden fees, no surprises. Chose the plan that best fits for team's needs, with each plan covering one applicant.
- $25 Basic Plan – Ideal for non-management positions
(Note: Price is $30 NY due to additional NY fees) - $70 Premium Plan – Tailored for executive, management, and finance roles.
(Note: Price is $160 for NY due to additional NY fees)

How-to: Initiate a Background Check Request (Employer)

- Click “Request Background Check” and select the Basic or Premium package.

How-to: Monitor Background Check Status
After an employer submits a background check request, the candidate must provide consent for the process to begin. Turn will manage the consent process, verify the candidate’s identity, and conduct the background check once consent is received.
- Select the Applicant from the Candidate Dashboard.
- On the right-hand panel for the selected Applicant, click the “Background Check” tab.
- Under "Status" you can see the current status for each background check initiated for the applicant.
For reference, below is the complete list of status updates:
- Initiated: An Invitation to the background check has been sent. Consent is yet to be given by the applicant.
- Verifying: If SSN Trace check fails, the background check enters manual identity review. Checks are resumed once the identity is verified by Turn's Customer Experience.
- Processing: Consent to conduct the background check has been given by the applicant and checks are pending completion.
- Approved: All checks are complete and returned clear.
- Conisder: This check requires review to either approve or initiate adverse action.

- Click the link in the email to be directed to the “Applicant Overview: Background Check” page.
- Click “View” to open up the Background Check Report Overlay to make the report visible.
- Please follow Turn’s instructions on how to read and understand the report .
Report Statuses
- Approved: indicates that the applicant’s record is clear and there were no issues or "hits" found
- Consider: indicates that the applicant’s background check revealed certain items you may want to review before continuing the hiring process
Pro-tip: As an employer, it's a best practice to review these items carefully. You can then choose to approve the application or issue a pre-adverse action. If you decide to take a negative action based on the background check, it's recommended that you inform the applicant. For more details on this process, check out Turn’s resource on How Adverse Action Works.
