While restaurant workers wait and hope for government assistance, food and beverage organizations, associations, and nonprofits across the country are looking to help those directly affected by the COVID-19 as immediately as they can. These national groups have made it their mission to help the hospitality industry.

The American Bakers Association (ABA)
Since 1897, ABA has worked to increase protection from costly government overreach, build the talent pool of skilled workers with specialized training programs, and forge industry alignment by establishing a more receptive environment to grow the baking industry. 

 

American Culinary Federation (ACF)
Established in 1929, ACF is the premier professional chefs’ organization in North America with more than 17,500 members in over 150 chapters nationwide. From regional and national events to certifications and publications, ACF provides resources to keep you on the cutting edge and involved with the culinary industry.

COVID-19 Assistance: Beginning immediately, and throughout the next six months, ACF is helping their members by waiving renewal membership fees for those who are not able to afford them during this difficult time. If you are not able to renew your membership, email [email protected], so that they can make arrangements for you. Once approved, your membership will extend for this interim period, with your commitment to renew once able to do so. They will review again after six months, to determine if any further extensions are needed.

 

Another Round, Another Rally (ARAR) 
Another Round, Another Rally is a nonprofit financial resource for the hospitality industry. They provide reimbursement grants and immersive educational scholarships to further the education of underrepresented voices in the community, and supply emergency assistance to those employed in restaurants, bars, and hotels who have fallen on unexpected hardship.

COVID-19 Assistance: The ARAR team has been working for the last two years to develop the infrastructure to help with just this sort of emergency. The ARAR Emergency Assistance Relief Fund has been set up to get funds to as many applicants as possible as quickly as they are able to raise them in the form of $500 relief grants. Anyone in the hospitality industry, dishwasher, bartender, server, busser, chef, cook, sommelier, manager, host, concierge, cleaning staff, or barback may apply for funds. 

 

Children of Restaurant Employees (CORE)
CORE offers support to families with everything they need to weather tough times — medical bills, gas, groceries, clothing, utilities, rent, and more. 

COVID-19 Assistance: CORE is providing support to food and beverage service employees, with children, who have been medically diagnosed with COVID-19.   

 

Council of Restaurant and Hotel Trainers (CHART)
The Council of Restaurant and Hotel Trainers develops hospitality-training professionals to advance training practices and improve operational results.

COVID-19 Assistance: Council of Restaurant and Hotel Trainers is offering informational resources for hospitality trainers so they can help keep employees and customers safe.

 

Council of State Restaurant Associations
CSRA's mission is to foster goodwill and promote the success of State Restaurant Associations and their members. 

 

Food Chain Workers Alliance (FCWA)
FCWA supports the 375,000+ workers who “plant, harvest, process, pack, transport, prepare, serve, and sell food, by organizing to improve wages and working conditions for all workers along the food chain.” 

COVID-19 Assistance: The FCWA is fighting for the health and safety of workers, fair wages and working conditions, and support for street vendors and undocumented immigrants.

 

International Association of Professional Restaurant Owners (IAPO)
The IAPO International Association of Professional Restaurant Owners is a membership association created to provide education and business development services for people working as, or studying to become, a professional restaurant owner. 

 

Independent Restaurant Coalition (IRC)
The Independent Restaurant Coalition (IRC) was created by an independent group of chefs and organizations, including Food Policy Action and the James Beard Foundation to save local restaurants affected by COVID-19. 

COVID-19 Assistance: The IRC is working to create a united voice to speak directly to lawmakers making timely decisions about the fate of the restaurant industry

 

James Beard Foundation
The James Beard Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to celebrate, nurture, and honor chefs and other leaders making America's food culture more delicious, diverse, and sustainable for everyone. 

COVID-19 Assistance: To help bring swift economic relief to these essential businesses, the JBF has launched The James Beard Foundation Food and Beverage Relief Fund, gathering support from corporate, foundation, and individual donors to provide micro-grants to independent food and beverage businesses in need.

 

Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance (MFHA)
MFHA developed Cultural Intelligence products and services that can enhance a restaurant's value proposition and execution strategies. 

 

National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON)
NDLON improves the lives of day laborers, migrants and low-wage workers. Through building leadership and power among those facing injustice so they can challenge inequality and expand labor, civil and political rights for all. 

COVID-19 Assistance: NDLON has launched the Immigrant Safety Fund to provide immediate resources and financial support so excluded workers can take care of themselves and their families at home. 

 

National Food Truck Association 
The National Food Truck Association was organized by a group of regional food truck associations to leverage their experience and knowledge to ensure that food trucks from coast-to-coast are provided great resources and access to information. 

COVID-19 Assistance: The NFTA has created a petition to provide urgent and dedicated aid to the Food Truck industry and employees.

 

The National Restaurant Association (NRA) 
The National Restaurant Association is the largest foodservice trade association in the world. It represents and advocates on behalf of more than 500,000 restaurant businesses. 

COVID-19 Assistance: The NRA has launched a nationwide grassroots campaign urging Congress to take immediate action to support the restaurant industry.

 

National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation
National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's mission of service to the public is dedicated to enhancing the industry's training and education, career development and community engagement efforts.

COVID-19 Assistance: The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation' are running the Lift Your Spirits campaign, encouraging industry professionals to make a video in which you mix your favorite drink, say a toast to those affected in the restaurant, foodservice and hospitality industry, post it to your social media accounts using #LiftYourSpirits, challenge your friends to do the same and donate.

  

One Fair Wage 
The One Fair Wage campaign is fighting to end unjust sub-minimum wages in America. 

COVID-19 Assistance: One Fair Wage is actively raising money for their emergency fund and will be making temporary cash gifts to workers who are seeing their income decline during this disaster or aren’t able to work because of quarantines or other health concerns. 

   

The Restaurant Opportunities Centers (ROC) United 
ROC United is a nonprofit organization fighting to improve wages and working conditions for the nation’s restaurant workforce. 

COVID-19 Assistance: ROC United is working to provide relief and resources to restaurant workers affected by the coronavirus crisis.

 

Restaurant Workers Community Foundation (RWCF) 
RWCF is an advocacy and action nonprofit created by and for restaurant workers, dedicated to making the restaurant industry more hospitable for everyone.

COVID-19 AssistanceRWCF’s full focus is on supporting workers, small business owners, and an industry in crisis through the Restaurant Workers COVID19 Crisis Relief Fund, which is directing money to organizations leading on-the-ground efforts, providing zero-interest loans to businesses, and establishing a relief fund for individual workers facing economic hardships or health crises as a direct result of COVID-19. 

 

Retail Bakers of America 
Founded in 1918, the Retail Bakers of America (RBA), a not-for-profit trade association is committed to the success of the retail baking industry. 

COVID-19 Assistance: The RBA is organizing town halls and offering resources for members.

 

USBG National Charity Foundation
The USBG National Charity Foundation is committed to the Foundation’s mission to advance the lifelong stability & wellbeing of service industry professionals through education & charitable activities.

COVID-19 Assistance: USBG Foundation is a resource for the bar industry community who are looking to help and/or are interested in volunteering via their COVID-19 Relief Campaign. 

 

Women Chefs & Restaurateurs (WCR)
The WCR aims to provide support and foster an environment that ensures women equal access to the position, power, and rewards offered by the restaurant industry. 

 

Women's Foodservice Forum (WFF)
The WFF engages food industry leaders who share their vision to break down barriers, create new paths for women to succeed, and help women prepare to meet those opportunities head-on.
