As we all anticipate a brighter 2021, many in our industry still need help now. With the latest $900 billion stimulus package falling short of our hopes of including dedicated relief for the hospitality industry, here are a few key sources where you can get more information about what relief is currently available.
For Restaurant Workers:
- The Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) and the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) have been extended through March 14, 2021. These two federal programs provide aid beyond state unemployment programs as well as to those who wouldn't normally qualify for state unemployment.
- Restaurant Workers' Community Foundation will be giving $405K more in funds to 15 organizations which provide individual grants that restaurant workers can apply for.
- Restaurant Opportunities Centers United (ROC-United) has created a comprehensive list of Covid-19 resources and relief options for restaurants workers and restaurants. Text ROC to 79606 to get updates.
For Hospitality Businesses:
While the Independent Restaurant Coalition continues its efforts to urge Congress to pass additional relief funds for the industry, it has also published an in-depth explainer and FAQ about the most recent stimulus bill.
