Director of Operations at NA:EUN Hospitality

Having female leaders to look up to was crucial for me as a young professional, and I believe it's essential to continue this trend. We must pave the way for future female leaders in our industry. Although the hospitality industry's demanding schedule may seem daunting for women, progress is evident, albeit gradual. I encourage aspiring female leaders not to be deterred by societal pressures or traditional gender roles, but to pursue their passions with determination.

EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION
One of my earliest managers always told me, “Inspect what you expect.” In our dynamic industry, where unexpected challenges arise regularly, I’ve learned the importance of thoroughness. Especially in a leadership role, it’s vital to examine even the aspects we anticipate. This approach enables us to effectively coach and guide our team, ensuring that collectively, we present our best selves.
Since my teenage years, I've yearned for my vocation to be my avocation. Fortunately, my aspirations have materialized, leading me to pursue higher education in hospitality. It wasn't until my internship at the Ritz-Carlton Central Park that I felt a profound sense of belonging. I can vividly recall navigating through a bustling lobby lounge and into the restaurant, accompanied by the soft melodies of a live pianist, amidst the guests enjoying their weekend evenings. It may sound cliché, but in that moment, I felt an undeniable sense of purpose, as if I were radiating with fulfillment, exactly where I was meant to be.
Early in my career, I made a deliberate effort to explore various opportunities, immersing myself fully in my passion. Post-college, I actively sought diverse experiences across different companies, roles, and locations. It was crucial for me to dedicate myself entirely to a job I loved. This dynamic journey has allowed me to recognize my strengths as both an employee and a leader. Each day, my diverse background equips me to tackle a myriad of challenges and opportunities with confidence.
A few years ago, I discovered that the word "restaurant" originates from the French word "restaurer," meaning to restore. In our profession, where our primary duty is to aid in restoration, whether for guests or teammates, compassion emerges as a fundamental attribute of success. While I once believed compassion to be innate and unteachable, I've come to realize that, with the right support, one can cultivate empathy and compassion. I actively seek individuals who possess or show the potential to develop a heightened sense of compassion.
The emerging generation of future leaders inspires me to push the boundaries of my work further. Witnessing the enthusiasm and talent of these young professionals as they shape their goals and values fills me with awe. My hope is to lay a solid foundation for future leaders to build upon, ensuring a bright future for our industry.
I attribute the success of NA:EUN Hospitality to the strength of teamwork. While our company is comprised of exceptionally talented individuals, our leadership team's unity is our greatest asset. We invest time in understanding each other and recognizing and valuing the unique contributions each member brings to the table. Together, we remain steadfast in our pursuit of shared goals and vision, making every achievement and recognition all the more meaningful.
Mornings hold a special significance for me. This ritual began during my time overseeing dinner service when the early hours were the only moments of tranquility in the bustling restaurants. It's during this time that I prioritize self-care, whether through preparing a wholesome breakfast, attending a workout class, or indulging in a guilty pleasure on TV. This moment of solitude recharges me, ensuring I'm ready to tackle whatever challenges the day may bring.
