Mogao Hospitality Group

New York, NY

About

Restaurant Mogul, Dufan Li, cultivated his vast knowledge of restaurants by working with the best and the brightest in the industry. It was this experience that led him to form the Mogao group with a focus on Asian cuisine that is uncompromising yet suitable for both Asian and American clientele. His vision of top-tier service coupled with great tasting cuisine may be what many a restauranteur strives for but rarely reaches in equal measure. Dufan Li has never been one to speak in hyperbole or rest on his laurels and has managed with his crack team of collaborators to come up with one winning venture after the other. Starting back in 2020 Mr. Li began purchasing restaurants both in the NYC and New Jersey area that he believed had a potential yet to be fulfilled. After his acquisitions he began modernizing the kitchen, upgrading the technology, and reshaping the menu and service standard to not only satisfy his customers but unlock the explosive growth potential of the business. His management team with an aggregate of 50 years of experience has led the Mogao group to 17 million in annual revenue and over 100 employees.

Currently the core of Mogao’s restaurant offerings are Peking Pavilion ,Uncle Ted’s, The Corner Chinese and Bank of China Cafeteria with more slated to be added over the next few years. We forecast that growth will nearly double, reaching 35 million in annual sales by 2025. Uncle Ted’s originally located at 163 Bleeker St. in Greenwich Village was Mogao’s first acquisition. For 40 years that storied location served as a Chinese cuisine beacon for the neighborhood. After a fire in 2021 destroyed the location, Mr. Li and his team scoured the area to find a new location that would continue to serve the neighborhood that had cradled it from its humble beginnings. Landing on 38 East 8th street just a stone’s throw away from NYU the restaurant reopened in the fall of 2022 and can be found packed on most nights of the week. Uncle Ted’s offers a modern take on Chinese cuisine that covers a wide range of dishes from many regions in China. A tasty menu combined with affordable pricing has made Uncle Ted’s the go-to restaurant in the NYU area.

The second acquisition by Mogao was Peking Pavilion located in Manalapan Township, New Jersey. Peking Pavilion offers gourmet Chinese food with an international flare. After 40 years of being in business, the popularity and acclaim of Peking Pavilion has continued to grow. As the number of discerning patrons has grown so have the rave reviews from esteemed publications such as The New York Times, Zagat, and select social media accounts. Our refined and relaxed atmosphere makes Peking Pavilion the perfect place for a business meeting, family gathering or a casual night out with friends. While acquiring well established restaurants is a major part of our business it’s not the only thing we’re focused on. We have a team that is dedicated to developing viable restaurant concepts across many different types of cuisine that can open and scale quickly. Mogao's new concept The Corner Chinese at 698 9th Ave Hell's Kitchen just opened spring 2023, and Mogao's Cafeteria located at Bryant Park are huge succussed for the new journey

We’ve set an ambitious goal of opening at least one to two restaurants a year, after all our slogan is, “with great food nothing is impossible!”
