Cushman Concepts
About
Cushman Concepts is a dynamic restaurant group created by husband and wife team Tim and Nancy Cushman. They have founded and lead restaurants in Boston and New York City whose collective vision is to create unique hospitality experiences that surprise and delight their guests every day.
The Cushman Concepts team is proud of these shared principles: that they are a group that is creatively driven and operationally sound, and that they foster and insist upon a culture of genuine care for themselves, their purveyors and their guests. Operating with this culture as a constant goal in addition to providing guests with crave-able food, beverage and warm service in unique ways is our inspiration and challenge.
o ya Boston, their original restaurant, is a contemporary Japanese restaurant specializing in sushi and small plates called o ya opened in Boston in 2007, and earned Chef Tim Cushman the James Beard Foundation Best Chef Northeast award in 2012. They went on to open other concepts in New York City's Park South Hotel, including a second o ya, a rooftop cocktail lounge called Roof at Park South, and a restaurant inspired by Chef Tim’s early career in California called Covina. Hojoko Japanese Tavern opened in Boston in 2014, a more funky izakaya-style concept with live music and karaoke. In 2019, the Cushman team opened Ms. Cluck’s Deluxe Chicken & Dumplings and gogo ya Crispy Nori Sushi Tacos in Boston’s location of Time Out Market. Following the market’s opening, the Cushman’s opening the first international location of o ya in Mexico City.
This coming winter, they will open a new neighborhood restaurant named “bianca” in The Street Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
