When I first became an owner in the food business, I had no idea where my path would take me, but there were two things I was certain of. First, that there are entirely too many additives and preservatives being added to our food supply and second, that I wanted to do something about it.
So that's what we set out to do here at Sugar Mountain - change the way people eat by showing them how delicious food is in its natural state without any unnecessary additives or processing.
This probably sounds like a pretty considerable goal – trying to change the way people approach their food – but for us, exploring creative twists in cuisine and sharing them with others is an exciting, fun adventure. And with the variety of Pacific Northwest fresh ingredients to choose from, the combinations are endless.
So where does that get us? At each one of our locations, we serve up boldly flavored food made with authentic ingredients. This means no harmful additives or preservatives. No flavor enhancers or food colorings.
We call this our Pure Food Commitment and it's the Sugar Mountain pledge to our customers - that we serve food with integrity, full of incredible flavors and wholesome nutrition.
In keeping with our commitment, Sugar Mountain also operates the Beecher's Pure Food Kids Foundation, a non-profit funded by 1% of sales from Beecher's, Bennett's, Pasta & Co, and Maximus / Minimus. Aimed at educating people about the prevalence of food additives and their possible health risks, Pure Food Kids is about giving people the tools they need to make healthy eating choices for life.
Finally, what’s in a name? If you’re thinking Neil Young, you’re right. Not only is Sugar Mountain one of my favorite songs, but I thought it only appropriate to name the company after a place of endless opportunity where anything is possible.
