Hire People not Positions. I interview constantly. I find a good egg and then I figure out where they will be happy.
In my first month of management at Gramercy Tavern, Tom said, "Make a decision. We can fix anything. Just don’t burn the place down."
There are always going to be challenging times in our careers. I know who to go to when I need gas to fill my tank. Identify that person and keep them close.
When starting a new job, set realistic schedule expectations. If 9am is the start time and you consistently arrive at 8am, the one day you arrive at 9am, you’re late!
