Our iOS and web apps were created as an all-in-one platform to help chefs escape the restaurant grind and work as personal chefs.
In 2018, cofounders Craig Silver and Justin Hamer shared the dream of working in the culinary industry. But neither wanted to go into debt from culinary school, or grind in restaurant kitchens. So they created Shmeal – an app that allowed home chefs to serve meals from home kitchens. They discovered thousands of people who shared their dream, and over 10,000 meals were served on the platform, by independent home chefs.
Similar to Rover, we provide a marketplace where customers can discover trusted, vetted service providers in their area, contact them, hire them, pay for service, and rate and review. Our focus is on weekly recurring meal prep services, where your chef designs a menu for you each week, grocery shops, comes to your home, cooks, and stocks your fridge with healthy meals that fit your diet and lifestyle. Customers will also be able to request service for special occasions, like birthday parties and anniversaries.
