Jaffa Bar will be an oyster bar showcasing the flavors of Israel with the spirit of our great city. It will be two-stories, 120 seats, and tucked inside a 19th century firehouse at the corner of Cecil B. Moore Avenue and Turner Street (just off of Front). Jaffa Bar will be open seven days a week and dinner and will offer both reservations plus ample seating for walk-ins, included at one of the restaurant’s three bars.
The dinner menu will feature a combination of oyster bar classics, Israeli-inflected seafood preparations and timeless bar-food — from Oysters with Passion Fruit Mignonette; Scallops and Merguez with Harissa; Fried Chicken Thighs with Amba Honey “Mustard”; and the Jaffa Burger. The cocktail program will pay homage to Jaffa’s citrus-rich Mediterranean coast. The wine list will focus on seafood-friendly natural wines as well as wines from across the Levant.
Jaffa Bar will be spearheaded by two CookNSolo veterans with a combined two decades of hospitality experience with CookNSolo: general manager/partner Kailey Jenkins, and chef/partner Andrew Henshaw. The duo are the five-year opening general manager-chef team of Fishtown favorite Laser Wolf. Ryan Mulholland — CookNSolo’s Director of Operations who led the hospitality team at Vernick Food & Drink for eleven years — is also a partner in the restaurant.
