Purdy's Farmer & the Fish was started in 2012 by two friends, Michael Kaphan & Edward Taylor. Michael, a graduate of SUNY Cobleskill's Agriculture Program & Peter Kump's Cooking School wanted to create a farm to table restaurant where the farm was the focus. The restaurant resides on a 22 acre property were the restaurant farms 3 acres, operates a year round glass greenhouse and high tunnel. Edward owns Down East Seafood in New York, which guarantees the best fish arriving to their door every morning. Together they created one of the Hudson Valley's most popular seafood inspired-farm to table restaurants.
