A love letter to Midwestern ingredients, Dear Margaret (2965 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, IL 60657; 773-360-8213) brings elevated, approachable French-Canadian cuisine to Lakeview. Executive Chef Ryan Brosseau curates a changing menu of rustic-refined dishes inspired by his childhood in southern Ontario, prepared with ingredients local and seasonal to Chicago. Dear Margaret relies on the passion and ingenuity of a year-round preservationist’s kitchen and larder—much like that of Brosseau’s own mémé (the French-Canadian term for grandma), to whom the upscale-casual restaurant is dedicated.
