Role & Tasks:
Currently I switch roles between food runner, hostess and cocktail server. As a food runner I am responsible for delivering hot food to the diners in a timely manner. I am a second set of eyes assuring quality of the dish and making sure special requests are met. Finally, I relay requests for food items to and from the servers and kitchen staff. As hostess I greet and acknowledge guests and seat patrons by escorting them to assigned table, or communicate delays and offer additional services such as beverages to keep them occupied while waiting. I present menus, create personal dining experience, answer questions, and offer information on menu items, beverages, and specials. I accept and organize reservations, and prioritize reservations to accommodate customers and prepare seating assignments prior to service and present plan to restaurant during pre-shift meeting. I walk through dining room during service to ensure guest satisfaction and advise servers and bussing staff of specific service needs.
I address guest requests or complaints, and escalate major complaints to floor manager. As cocktail server I serve wine, beer and cocktails per restaurant guidelines, maintain clean and well-stocked workstation. I also handle cash and credit card transactions as required and ensure high beverage quality.
