I am a qualified Medical Doctor from South Africa who has recently moved to Boston with my husband who is completing his Residency at Boston Medical Center. I am currently looking for a part time position as a hostess or waitress while I do research and apply for Residency for June 2017. I have 3 years’ experience working as both a hostess and a server for various events in and around Cape Town, South Africa. This was on a part time basis while I was at College and it allowed me to build confidence and refine my skills in hospitality. In addition, I was fortunate enough to gain experience waitressing for 3 months in London during a summer holiday.

Coming from the Western Cape in South Africa, where Vineyards are plentiful, I have a true appreciation for wine as well as good food. On a personal level, I enjoy working as part of a team and value my relationships with my peers and coworkers. I am a hard worker and am used to working long hours in somewhat stressful environments. If given the opportunity I am confident that I would be a valuable member of your team.

SHAWCO (Students' Health and Welfare Center's Organization) is a student run non-profit organization based at the University of Cape Town (UCT) which seeks to improve the quality of life for individuals in disadvantaged communities. During school vacations a team of approximately twenty of us helped facilitate a ten day program (of approximately 8 hours per day) with high school students within the community, consisting of a daily structured curriculum of Mathematics, Physical Science, English and Life Skills. Our goal was to provide a comfortable, fun environment where learners were able improve their knowledge in fundamental subjects with the help of tutors and mentors.

    Summary
Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital is the largest pediatric healthcare institution in Southern Africa. One afternoon a week a group of us would visit the hospital to interact and play with children in various wards, especially those where children were admitted for significant amounts of time. Through toys, books, videos and costumes we aimed to promote the growth, development and socialization of children admitted there, and allow play to act as an outlet for the children to deal with any stressors or strains they may be experiencing as a result of their condition. It was a very rewarding experience and one that I will always remember fondly.
