1 Hotel Central Park’s three story ivy covered facade greets guests on 58th street with nature before they walk through the door. Inside, three-dimensional spaces, original detailing and windows upon windows of light draw guests and showcase the buildings unique history and beauty.

Originally constructed in the 1920s as an apartment hotel, 1414 58th street attracted the likes of silent movie actress Gloria Swanson as a resident. By the time 1 purchased the property many decades later, it had become a tale of dreary offices, showrooms, and pizza parlors. But what excited us was one unique fact-- all surrounding structures were set back from its frontage, giving 70 percent of the building’s windows open views. We saw it as an opportunity to bring the light back into a neglected structure, create extraordinary spaces, and honor nature—all at the same time.

Throughout the hotel, we highlight the art in nature with reclaimed materials and rough-hewn patterns. A floor-to-ceiling slot of living plants accompanies the door of each room, giving you a fresh boost every time you walk in. Another added boost? Famed New York chef Jonathan Waxman is at the helm when it comes to food, offering fresh ingredients and delicious dishes to guests and friends.
