Chef Anthony Chittum and Neighborhood Restaurant Group are seeking a Pastry Chef for Iron Gate Restaurant located in DuPont Circle http://irongaterestaurantdc.com/ . Iron Gate serves Greek and Southern Italian food inspired by Mid-Atlantic ingredients. Iron Gate is a scratch kitchen using only the best seasonal ingredients. Since opening in 2013 , Iron Gate has been recognized by the Washington City Paper as “Best New Restaurant 2014” and received a 3 star review from the Washington Post, in addition to being a James Beard semifinalist nominee for “Mid-Atlantic Chef of the Year 2014 and 2015”. More recent accolades include Wine & Spirit “Top 100 wine programs in the country” and nominations for “Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year” and “Best Service Program” by RAMW 2016.
Qualified candidates must have a passion for cooking great food, possess strong leadership abilities, and have a desire to learn, grow, and be an integral part of a dynamic team. Knowledge and experience with Mid-Atlantic, Greek, and Italian cuisine and preparations, bread baking, wood fire cooking and both rustic and refined plating techniques. Candidates must be able to multitask assisting with training of front and back of the house, menu planning and special occasion parties. Most importantly, successful candidates will have a strong work ethic, thrive in a team environment, possess organizational skills, be punctual, professional, and have the ability to manage staff leading by example.
