General Manager – Cafe Operations

We are looking for an experienced General Manager to oversee the complete operation of an established, high-volume cafe in Los Angeles.

This role requires a strong, hands-on operator who can lead a diverse team, maintain consistent service and operational standards, demonstrate strong leadership, and take ownership of the overall performance of the business.

The General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and performance of the location, with oversight of people, operations, guest experience, and financial results.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead and develop the management and hourly teams across all areas of the operation.
• Oversee daily operations and ensure consistent execution of service, quality, cleanliness, and operational standards.
• Establish clear expectations and maintain accountability across the team.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, labor, and productivity based on business needs.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee development in partnership with HR.
• Maintain appropriate inventory, ordering, purchasing, and cost-control practices.
• Monitor financial and operational performance, including labor, COGS, controllable expenses, and P&L results.
• Ensure proper cash-handling procedures and other operational controls.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, workplace safety, employment practices, and company policies.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and overall business performance.
• Ensure the facility and equipment are properly maintained and operational needs are addressed promptly.
• Partner with senior leadership on business priorities, staffing needs, and operational improvements.

• Previous General Manager or comparable senior management experience in a high-volume cafe, restaurant, or food-service operation.
• Demonstrated experience managing a large, diverse hourly workforce and management team.
• Strong understanding of labor management, scheduling, inventory, cost controls, and P&L performance.
• Experience hiring, training, coaching, and managing employee performance.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple operational priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear and effective communication skills.
• Strong judgment and the ability to make sound decisions independently.
• Hands-on leadership style with a consistent presence in the operation.
