Server Assistant

Shō Omakase is currently hiring a part time server! In the heart of Chicago's Old town, Shō is a modern interpretation of omakase dining. Executive Chef Mari Katsumura blends traditional flavors and ingredients with influences from other cultures to create a dining experience truly unlike any other. 

Responsibilities

• Focuses attention on guest needs and responds promptly
• Provides expert knowledge of food and beverage menus to guests, guiding them through their experience
• Maintains complete knowledge of all menus, including ingredients and techniques used
• Accommodates all request for information courteously
• Accomplishes all assigned side work throughout shift
• Takes direction from both culinary and front of house management 
• Navigates the POS system to charge and process payments
• Maintains a complete working knowledge of all the pairings utilized in any given current menu

Requirements

• 1 or more years of experience as a server or related position
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, chef-driven environment
• High attention to detail
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Thinks clearly, quickly, and maintains concentration during high pressure situations
• Must be available on Friday and Saturday evenings (weekdays as needed)
• Knowledge of wine, sake, and spirits preferred
• Knowledge of Japanese cuisine preferred 

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours
• Must be able to move, pull or lift at least 35 pounds
• Must be able to climb stairs multiple times per shift
