Schedule: Must have availability for night shifts starting at 3:00 PM daily and weekend brunch shifts starting at 10:00 AM.
Casa Felix is a NEW modern Mexican restaurant opening in Chelsea, NYC — a warm, high-energy restaurant and bar inspired by Mexico City, tequila & mezcal culture, and the spirit of celebration.
We are looking for experienced, polished, and hospitality-driven Bartenders with strong craft cocktail knowledge, excellent guest engagement, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, high-energy restaurant and bar environment.
Position OverviewBartenders at Casa Felix are responsible for preparing and serving cocktails, tequila, mezcal, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages with consistency, speed, accuracy, and style.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in classic cocktails, modern cocktail techniques, tequila and mezcal knowledge, batching, prep, garnishes, bar organization, and warm guest service.
The right candidate should be confident behind the bar, knowledgeable without being pretentious, calm under pressure, and able to balance craft, speed, hospitality, and cleanliness during busy service.
Key Responsibilities - Craft Cocktail Execution- Prepare cocktails according to Casa Felix recipes, specifications, techniques, and presentation standards.
- Maintain consistency in flavor, balance, dilution, garnish, glassware, and overall presentation.
- Execute classic cocktails, house cocktails, margaritas, tequila and mezcal-based drinks, stirred cocktails, shaken cocktails, built drinks, and brunch cocktails.
- Understand and apply proper cocktail techniques, including shaking, stirring, muddling, building, straining, batching, measuring, garnishing, and proper ice use.
- Maintain strong knowledge of spirits, liqueurs, modifiers, bitters, syrups, juices, infusions, garnishes, and cocktail structure.
- Support cocktail prep, batching, juicing, syrup production, garnish preparation, and mise en place.
- Ensure every drink leaving the bar meets Casa Felix standards for quality, consistency, and presentation.
- Maintain strong knowledge of tequila, mezcal, agave spirits, cocktails, wine, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and menu pairings.
- Confidently guide guests through tequila and mezcal selections, flavor profiles, production styles, and cocktail recommendations.
- Educate guests in an approachable, engaging way without overcomplicating the experience.
- Make thoughtful recommendations based on guest preferences.
- Support a beverage-forward culture that enhances the guest experience and drives sales.
- Stay informed on menu changes, 86’d items, specials, featured spirits, and seasonal cocktail updates.
- Provide warm, polished, attentive, and engaging service to all bar guests.
- Greet guests promptly and create a welcoming bar experience.
- Read guests well and adjust service style based on the moment, whether lively, celebratory, intimate, or fast-paced.
- Build relationships with regular guests, neighborhood clientele, VIPs, and bar guests.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond with urgency and professionalism.
- Handle guest questions, special requests, allergies, service concerns, and responsible alcohol service situations appropriately.
- Help create the energy, atmosphere, and hospitality style of Casa Felix.
- Accurately take and enter food and beverage orders into the POS system.
- Prepare drinks for bar guests, dining room tickets, private events, brunch, dinner, and late-night service.
- Maintain proper ticket timing and communicate with servers, managers, barbacks, kitchen, and support staff.
- Balance speed and quality during high-volume service.
- Keep the bar clean, organized, stocked, and guest-ready throughout the shift.
- Monitor bar seating, guest pacing, check-backs, payment processing, and check presentation.
- Assist with food service at the bar when needed.
- Complete all opening, running, and closing bar duties accurately and on time.
- Set up the bar with proper tools, glassware, garnishes, juices, syrups, batches, spirits, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Maintain organized wells, back bar, reach-ins, garnish trays, glassware, service areas, and storage spaces.
- Follow pars for juices, syrups, garnishes, batched cocktails, mixers, and bar supplies.
- Restock throughout service to avoid delays.
- Polish glassware and maintain clean bar surfaces, tools, menus, POS areas, and guest-facing spaces.
- Properly label, date, rotate, and store all beverage products and prep items.
- Follow FIFO standards and reduce waste where possible.
- Work closely with servers, barbacks, hosts, runners, bussers, managers, kitchen, and fellow bartenders.
- Communicate clearly regarding allergies, guest preferences, pacing, 86’d items, ticket timing, and special requests.
- Support barbacks and service team during busy shifts.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings, tastings, cocktail training, menu education, and service updates.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, team-first attitude.
- Assist with side work, resets, cleaning, stocking, polishing, and service support as needed.
- Follow all responsible alcohol service standards and legal requirements.
- Check identification when required.
- Monitor guest alcohol consumption and communicate to management if necessary.
- Follow NYC Department of Health, sanitation, safety, and food handling standards.
- Comply with company policies, cash handling procedures, POS standards, and workplace expectations.
- Report guest incidents, safety concerns, spills, breakage, equipment issues, or service problems to management immediately.
- Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in a full-service restaurant, cocktail bar, hotel bar, or high-volume hospitality environment.
- Strong craft cocktail knowledge and experience executing both classic and modern cocktails.
- Strong understanding of tequila, mezcal, agave spirits, spirits categories, cocktail balance, and bar technique.
- Ability to work quickly and cleanly while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Strong guest service skills and genuine passion for hospitality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Strong communication, organization, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable selling cocktails, tequila, mezcal, wine, beer, food, and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Must be available for night shifts starting at 3:00 PM daily.
- Must be available for weekend brunch shifts starting at 10:00 AM.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, shake, stir, carry, and move quickly for long periods.
- Must be reliable, punctual, professional, polished, and team-oriented.
- Experience in cocktail-driven, tequila/mezcal-focused, Mexican, Latin, nightlife-inspired, or high-energy restaurant concepts.
- Strong knowledge of margarita variations, agave spirits, classic cocktails, modern cocktail builds, and seasonal beverage programs.
- Experience with cocktail batching, fresh juice programs, house syrups, infusions, garnishes, and bar prep systems.
- Experience with POS systems such as Toast, Aloha, Micros, or similar platforms.
- Experience with Resy, SevenRooms, OpenTable, or similar reservation platforms is a plus.
- Alcohol awareness certification is a plus.
- NYC Food Protection Certificate is a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
