Line Cook

The Whitby Bar is looking for a strong and gifted line cook to join an award winning team of culinary professionals. The line cook would be required to set up their station and cook according to the chef’s instruction. Their general duties consist of showing up on time, having a clean uniform and station, feeling and looking energized, and assisting the executive chef, sous chefs, and kitchen team to make beautiful hot and cold food that is delicious, perfectly seasoned, and served on time.

MAIN DUTIES: 

• Show up on time and be prepared
• Set up and stock station with prepped mis en place and other supplies
• Prepare food for service, e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces
• Work closely with the kitchen team, communicating, and responding to the teams needs
• Answer, report and follow the executive chef or sous chef’s instructions
• Read tickets and execute orders in a timely, neat, and efficient manner, communicating with other staff so that food arrives at the same time
• Adhere to menu allergen information, maintain food hygiene standards, and comply with Health Department standards and keep the station clean
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Proven cooking experience as a line cook, in a three or four star restaurant or five star hotel
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
• A positive attitude
