About Nitehawk Cinema

Founded in 2011 Nitehawk Cinema is New York’s premier dine-in theater—pairing first-run and repertory film programming with full-service, table-side food and beverage.

Nitehawk enhances the cinematic experience through thoughtfully curated menus inspired by the films we screen, archival 35mm projection, and one-of-a-kind events featuring filmmakers, live performances, and discussions. Our programming spans brunch, midnight, and signature series—celebrating both classic cinema and emerging independent voices.

About the Role

Nitehawk Cinema is seeking a hands-on, service-driven Floor Manager to lead Front of House operations during high-volume service. This role is responsible for overseeing service throughout the building while managing FOH staff and supporting cross-department communication.

As a Floor Manager, you are the connective tissue between service, kitchen, projection, and events—ensuring that every show runs smoothly and every guest leaves with an exceptional experience. You are expected to be present and positive, while being passionately productive, solutions-oriented, and consistent in follow-through.

Role ResponsibilitiesFloor Leadership & Guest Experience
  • Lead, coach, and support FOH staff to consistently deliver warm, attentive, and efficient service
  • Actively manage the floor—circulating through theaters, anticipating guest needs, and troubleshooting in real time
  • Uphold Nitehawk’s guest policies and confidently handle guest concerns or disruptions
  • Maintain a welcoming, organized, and high-energy environment throughout service
Team Communication & Operations
  • Communicate daily updates including menu changes, theater notes, and operational shifts to FOH staff
  • Lead pre-shift meetings in collaboration with kitchen, projection, and events teams
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure seamless service across all departments
  • Monitor and respond to internal communications (including our Customer Service email) during shifts
Administrative & Managerial Support
  • Contribute to hiring processes, including interviewing FOH candidates
  • Assist with server scheduling and ongoing staff development, including new hire and annual reviews
  • Document and maintain staff performance notes; follow up on issues with appropriate coaching or disciplinary action
  • Participate in FOH meetings and contribute to continuous improvement and implementation of service standards
Operational Ownership
  • Prepare and maintain weekly FOH materials, including first-run specials sheets
  • Oversee Lost & Found and merchandise inventory
  • Support seasonal and weekly menu rollouts
  • Ensure cleanliness, safety, and DOH compliance across the facility
Closing Responsibilities
  • Lead closing operations, including:
    • Tip pool management
    • Cash handling (deposits, bank change)
    • End-of-day reporting and blog entries
  • Ensure the space is fully reset, secure, and prepared for the following day
Scheduling & Operating Hours
  • Primarily evening shifts
  • Weekend and holiday availability required
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in hospitality, restaurant, or theater operations
  • Proven ability to lead teams in high-volume environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • A proactive mindset with strong follow-through
What to Expect in This Role

This position requires consistency, stamina, and a thoughtful approach to leadership.

  • Film programming runs on a weekly schedule, and many shifts will follow a similar rhythm. Success in this role comes from maintaining focus, energy, and standards even when the environment feels familiar.
  • This role requires comfort with late nights, long shifts, and sustained energy over time.
  • Floor Managers must be able to read the room, assess team dynamics in real time, and identify the right moment to step in—whether to coach staff or support a guest.
  • We value managers who are steady, composed, and solutions-oriented.
What Success Looks Like
  • You bring consistent energy and attention to detail, even in repetitive environments
  • You intervene thoughtfully
  • You build trust with your team through clear, calm, and respectful communication
  • You manage high-pressure moments with composure and confidence
