Job Details

As a Steamer Line Cook, you play a key role in delivering the signature dumplings our guests come to Din Tai Fung (DTF) for. In this role, you are responsible for carefully steaming dumplings to order, ensuring each basket is cooked to perfection and served with the quality and consistency our guests expect.


You’ll also support the dumpling team by helping prepare, assemble, and close dumplings throughout the shift. Steamer Line Cooks are responsible for opening and closing the steamer station, as well as restocking and organizing dumplings so service runs smoothly. Because this role often works from our show kitchen, maintaining a clean, groomed, and professional appearance is essential as you help bring the experience to life for our guests.

PAY RATE FOR STEAMER LINE COOK: $26.00 per hour

SUPPORTING FUNCTIONS: 

  • Keeps all kitchen areas clean and sanitized 
  • Organizes items within the walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Lifts/moves boxes, bags, chairs, and tables (up to 50 pounds) 
  • Assists with regular deep cleaning of the kitchen
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all proprietary information, including but not limited to recipes and Standard Operating Procedures (“SOP’s“).

The story of Din Tai Fung dates back to 1958 when it was originally founded as a cooking oil retail shop in Taipei, Taiwan by Bing-Yi Yang and his wife, Pen-Mei Lai.

In 1972, the couple dedicated half of their shop to making and selling Xiao Long Bao. The Xiao Long Bao became so popular that Mr. Yang phased out the oil business, turning Din Tai Fung into the full-fledged restaurant it is today. Since its founding, Din Tai Fung has become synonymous with quality, consistency, and warm hospitality. With a menu boasting far more than just Xiao Long Bao, the brand has won many accolades, including the coveted Michelin Star five times at its Hong Kong branch, and has introduced a taste of authentic Taiwanese cuisine to 13 countries, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, Europe, and Thailand.

Today, Din Tai Fung continues to be family-owned and passed down through generations, staying true to its heritage and timeless values.
