Job Details
mfk. Restaurant is a tiny joint in East Lakeview. 
We are looking for a dedicated line cook to join our seafood-loving crew.

Chef Matt Ginsburg runs an ego-free kitchen with a focus on simply executed, coastal-inspired cuisines of the Catalan and Basque regions of Spain.

We have 25 seats in our dining room/bar, but don't let that fool you. We are busy and the kitchen is always moving. Having no walk-in or freezer means we prepare all of our food fresh, daily.

Chef Matt has an excellent palate and operates with no pretense. His focus is on the food, not on awards or magazine covers. We would like you to be of the same mind. We believe in simply prepared food here, so if molecular / reinterpreted food is your bag, this is not for you.

The line cook position at MFK encompasses: prep, working service (garde manger, frier, flat top, oven & stove range) opening, closing & cleaning. organization of product, contribution to family meal, and opportunity to collaborate on specials/menu items. 

We are currently open seven days a week. Everyone has two days off in a row. We try to keep work hours to a minimum. Our last seating is 9:30, so no super late services and we are not open for lunch.

We offer medical benefits for anyone working over 35 hours per week, after the new hire period of 90 days. We are closed roughly 3 wks out of the year for holidays and such.

Every chef we've ever had, excluding our first chef, of course, has been promoted from within our kitchen -- if that tells you anything.

Compensation Details
