The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Joo Ok is a key leadership position responsible for supporting the overall operation and performance of the restaurant. This role works closely with the General Manager and Chef team to ensure that every service reflects the precision, discipline, and elevated standards of a Michelin two-star environment.
Beyond operational oversight, the AGM plays a critical role in shaping team culture, strengthening systems, and ensuring consistency in guest experience. The ideal candidate is a composed and detail-oriented leader who understands both the operational and human sides of fine dining hospitality.
This position requires strong judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to lead by example in a high-performance environment.
Core Responsibilities Service Leadership- Lead FOH execution before, during, and after service, ensuring structure, readiness, and accountability
- Maintain strong floor presence and support service flow, pacing, and guest experience
- Coordinate closely with BOH and management to ensure seamless communication and timing
- Uphold and reinforce Joo Ok’s service standards at a Michelin-level expectation
- Oversee dining room operations, including table management, guest flow, and service touchpoints
- Engage with guests in a professional and thoughtful manner, ensuring consistency in hospitality delivery
- Manage guest concerns with discretion, urgency, and care
- Support reservation management and guest profile tracking to enhance personalization
- Execute opening and closing manager responsibilities, including daily walkthroughs and readiness checks
- Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate service priorities, updates, and key notes
- Complete daily service recaps and operational reporting
- Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Support training, coaching, and development of FOH team members
- Reinforce service standards through consistent communication and example
- Foster a culture of discipline, respect, and continuous improvement
- Identify and develop team strengths while addressing areas for growth
- Assist in maintaining FOH systems, service structure, and operational checklists
- Support inventory coordination and FOH supply management
- Collaborate with leadership to improve efficiency and internal communication systems
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in fine dining service, preferably in a leadership role
- Strong understanding of structured service in high-end dining environments
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
- Strong attention to detail and operational discipline
- Team-oriented mindset with emotional maturity and professionalism
- NYC DOH Food Protection Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods during service
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs when required
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
- Annual salary: $75,000 – $85,000 (based on experience)
- After 3 months probation period:
- 12 Paid Time Off (PTO) days

Compensation Details
Compensation: Salary ($75,000.00 - $85,000.00)
