Established Brooklyn Commissary Bakery is seeking an experienced and motivated Kitchen Manager to join our team.
We are a high-volume, from-scratch bakery producing a wide range of baked goods—including muffins, scones, cookies, and cakes—for multiple café locations.
This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is passionate about quality, consistency, and team development.
The Kitchen Manager will work closely with ownership and senior leadership to oversee daily operations, manage production staff, and ensure efficient, high-quality output across all products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of bakers during daily production
- Oversee and execute production schedules to meet wholesale demand
- Create and manage weekly staff schedules; adjust as needed for call-outs and coverage
- Maintain product quality, consistency, and adherence to established standards
- Ensure a clean, organized, and health department–compliant kitchen
- Train, mentor, and onboard new team members
- Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, workflows, and overall efficiency
- Address and resolve staff or operational issues in real time
Qualifications
- 2–5+ years of bakery or kitchen management experience required
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to manage teams in a high-volume production setting
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and consistency
- Comfortable problem-solving and making decisions under pressure
- Reliable, proactive, and accountable
Position Details
- Full-time position (5 days/week)
- Approximately 40 hours per week, with flexibility based on production needs
- Availability to respond to operational issues, including last-minute staffing needs
- Salary range: $70,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience
