We’re looking for a strong, passionate and experienced maitre'd to join our team at Theodora.
Chef/owner Tomer Blechman of the popular Mediterranean restaurant Miss Ada in Fort Greene and its sister concept Nili in Carroll Gardens opens his newest concept, Theodora with co-owner Gerardo Estevez. Theodora is a progression of Miss Ada, taking the community Tomer built. At the heart of Theodora is an inviting open kitchen focusing on fresh and dry-aged seafood and open-fire cooking.
The host team are the first faces our guests see when they arrive, and the last they see when they leave. The host team will work with our head maitre’d to ensure we offer a vibrant and positive welcome to our guests. This is a great role for a problem solver who enjoys working with a team, as the host team will work collaboratively to fine tune our systems for the door.
This is a great role for someone with 3-4 years of dedicated maitre'd experience who is looking for an autonomous maitre'd role with the freedom to shape the guest experience at the host stand or for someone with less door experience open to a mixed host and busser role.
Requirements:
- 1-2 year experience in a full service restuarant with 50 to 75 seats that manages reservations and waitlist
- Experience working with Resy
- Full and flexible availability
- A long-term mindset towards restaurant work
- Ability to communicate clearly and warmly with guests and staff
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to stand for extended periods of time [over 7 hours]
- Be able to lift and carry 50 pounds steadily
- Be comfortable bending, sitting, walking extended distances including up and down flights of stairs, and moving.
- Be comfortable working in outdoor conditions including heat and cold
