Chef Sujan Sarkar is bringing his Michelin-starred Indian tasting menu concept, Indienne, to New York City this spring. We are seeking polished, hospitality-driven Front-of-House professionals to join our opening team and help create a seamless and memorable guest experience from the very first interaction.

Position Overview

The Host is an hourly service role that works closely with the management team and both front- and back-of-house staff. As the first and last point of contact for our guests, the Host plays a critical role in setting the tone for the dining experience.

This position is responsible for managing reservations, pacing the dining room, and maintaining accurate and detailed guest information, including preferences, dietary restrictions, allergies, and special occasions. The Host team serves as the foundation of communication between guests and the service team, ensuring consistency and attention to detail throughout the entire experience.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Service

  • Greet all guests warmly upon arrival and thank them upon departure
  • Manage reservation flow and seating to maintain proper pacing of the dining room
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with guests regarding wait times or delays
  • Accommodate walk-in guests whenever possible while upholding service standards
  • Maintain a polished, organized, and welcoming front door presence

Reservations & Systems

  • Operate reservation platforms efficiently (Resy, SevenRooms preferred)
  • Maintain accurate and detailed guest profiles, including preferences, allergies, and special occasions
  • Recognize VIPs, industry guests, and returning clientele, and follow proper service protocols

Team Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with management and service staff to ensure seamless guest flow
  • Support team members across the dining room to maintain a cohesive service experience
  • Escalate guest concerns or issues to management promptly and professionally

Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area
  • Assist with additional service or operational tasks as needed
  • Adhere to grooming, presentation, and service standards at all times
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Host in a fine dining or high-volume restaurant 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Professional demeanor with a genuine passion for hospitality
  • Ability to think quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic and collaborative mindset
  • Receptive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement

Physical Requirements

Originally from Kolkata, Chef Sujan Sarkar has become one of the leading voices shaping contemporary Indian cuisine in America today. Drawing on a global career that includes time in some of London’s most acclaimed Michelin-starred kitchens, Sarkar approaches Indian cuisine with both cultural understanding and a globally informed perspective. Across his growing collection of restaurants, his work explores the depth and regional diversity of the Indian subcontinent while reimagining how Indian cuisine can exist within the modern fine dining landscape.

We offer three seasonal 9-course tasting menus: Non-Vegetarian, Vegetarian, and Vegan.

Indienne in Chicago earned its first Michelin star in 2023 and has retained the distinction each year since. Our team looks forward to guiding guests through a dining experience that balances artistry with warmth, generosity, and thoughtful hospitality.
