From globally acclaimed chef Ignacio Mattos, Altro Paradiso is a recently Michelin-recommended Italian restaurant in the heart of SoHo and a staple of New York City dining. Since opening in 2016, it has built a loyal following of neighborhood regulars and returning travelers alike, offering regionally inspired Italian cooking in a vibrant, light-filled space.
Altro Paradiso is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Maître d' who embraces a team-oriented style of service and is able to balance the nuanced demands of this dynamic position.
Maître d' is the first point of contact for our guests and works closely with Altro Paradiso management teams to ensure that all guests have pleasurable dining experiences. Our ideal candidate has a gracious and accommodating approach that comes easily to them.
This position requires availability on weekends and holidays
Requirements for Success:
- Ability to maintain a warm, welcoming demeanor that fosters a hospitable environment for guests
- A strong desire and willingness to learn and grow within the role
- Previous customer service experience, preferably in a hospitality setting
- Prior experience as a Maître D’
- Excellent communication skills—clear, calm, and concise under pressure
- Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to guide and support a team
- Proficiency in OpenTable or a similar reservation management platform
- Ability to oversee and maintain the flow of service seamlessly
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
Guest Service:
- Ensure all guests consistently receive warm, attentive, and efficient service
- Respond promptly and graciously to guest concerns and complaints, ensuring a positive resolution
- Communicate any food allergies or special dietary needs to the kitchen team with precision
- Maintain an inviting and organized restaurant atmosphere
- Cultivate relationships with repeat guests, fostering loyalty and recognition
