Line Cook – The Grill on 21

A modern interpretation of the classic American grill, The Grill on 21 features an open, exhibition-style kitchen and delivers an elevated culinary experience inside The LaSalle, an Autograph Collection Hotel. Located in the heart of Chicago’s Financial District, we serve a dynamic mix of professionals, seasoned travelers, and local residents—offering a distinctive dining destination downtown.

The Grill on 21 is currently seeking Line Cooks to join our culinary team.

Position Details:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant preferred

    • Prepare menu items and specials according to standard recipes and quality standards
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked workstation throughout the shift
    • Follow directions from kitchen leadership and communicate when clarification is needed
    • Ensure proper food presentation, freshness, and timely preparation
    • Uphold sanitation, safety, and uniform standards at all times
    • Set up, break down, and complete end-of-shift cleaning duties
    • Monitor equipment condition and report any issues
    • Support other stations and team members as needed

Requirements:

  • Maintain and properly use all required safety equipment

  • Stand and walk for extended periods (5–10 hours per shift)

  • Move safely throughout all areas of the restaurant

  • Work effectively in noisy, fast-paced, and confined environments

  • Tolerate variable ventilation, smoke, and extreme temperatures

  • Basic English reading and writing skills

  • Strong multitasking abilities

  • Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and carrying

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (produce, meats, supplies)

  • Ability to work in both warm and cool environments, indoors and outdoors

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($18.00 - $23.00)
