Bar / Server (Hybrid Role)
Palma Restaurant – West Village, NYC

Palma Restaurant, located on Cornelia Street in the West Village, is seeking an experienced, motivated, and dynamic Bar / Server to join our front-of-house team.  At Palma, we are known for our exceptional Italian cuisine, crafted from the finest ingredients, and our distinctive wine and beverage program. We pride ourselves on delivering warm, genuine hospitality that makes every guest feel welcomed and valued.

This hybrid role is ideal for a hospitality professional who is equally comfortable providing attentive table service and executing a thoughtful, high-quality beverage program behind the bar.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide polished, attentive service to guests in both dining room and bar settings

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to restaurant standards

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of Italian cuisine, wine, and cocktails, with the ability to guide guest selections

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar and service area

  • Collaborate with front-of-house and back-of-house teams to ensure smooth, seamless service

  • Handle guest feedback with professionalism and a solutions-oriented mindset

  • Support private dining and event service as needed

Qualifications
  • Strong background in both serving and bartending in a high-volume, upscale environment

  • Genuine hospitality mindset with a warm, guest-first approach

  • Solid knowledge of Italian food, wine, and classic cocktails

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple dining areas and private rooms

  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills

  • Professional, polished demeanor and strong attention to detail

Requirements
  • Flexible schedule with availability for a minimum of 2–3 lunch shifts

  • Availability for dinner shifts, including weekends

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($17.00) plus tips

Palma & her husband, Pierre, met in 1987 in New York City. The two instantly fell in love... A first generation Brooklyn Italian girl & a native Parisian boy who spent his best time near the Italian border in Cannes. Together they started D'Orazio Food Events, one of the first photoshoot catering companies, catering to the fashion & entertainment industries. They continued their love story when they opened Palma in 2001, a small 35 seat restaurant.

The restaurant thrived as an extension of their home. You could always find their daughters sitting at a table doing homework or running around playing games. This atmosphere extended to their guests, who they host as they would their friends & family. Over the years, their restaurant has grown organically & independently, & all the while Palma's heart has stayed the same. She explains that food nurtures the soul as well as the body. It is essential for her to feed her guests what she would feed her family.
