Lead Cafe Cook

Responsibilities:

• Cooking the entire menu to order, strong focus on presentation
• Communicating and delegating tasks to fellow cooks
• Leading the kitchen team (when management not available)
• Inventory analysis (and placing orders when required)
• Check freshness and quality of ingredients, intaking deliveries
• Ensure kitchen is properly cleaned and packed down at end of shift, dishwashing required
• Prepping ingredients, and adhering to prep lists, stocktaking ingredients to be ordered

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in culinary arts, cooking, or other related fields
• Passion for food and cooking techniques
• Strong team-working qualities, and ability to colaborate with colleagues
• Ability to take responsibility of the needs of the restaurant when working alone
• Must be able to take direction from management
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, sense of urgency
• NYC Food Handlers card is required

Job Details:

• Expected hours: 30-40 per week (4-5 days)
• Pay rate: $21-23 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
