In Fall 2022, Marcus Samuelsson opened his first Manhattan restaurant in seven years in the Starrett-Lehigh building in Chelsea. Hav & Mar refers to “Ocean” in Swedish and “Honey” in Amharic, drawing on Marcus’ Scandinavian heritage and Ethiopian roots, as well as the influence of African roots in modern Black cuisine. Hav & Mar is currently looking for a qualified Server Assistant
Their main duties include:

Table Preparation; Setting tables with utensils, napkins, and condiments, refilling beverages, and ensuring menus are available for guests.

Food and Beverage Support: Delivering food and drinks to tables when servers are busy, assisting with orders.

Clearing and Cleaning: Removing dirty dishes, utensils, and glassware, wiping spills, resetting tables for the next guests, and maintaining a clean dining area.

Customer Interaction: Greeting guests, responding to requests, and communicating with servers, chefs, and management to address any issues.
- Stocking and Organization: Ensuring service areas, bars, and stations are stocked with necessary supplies and maintaining order in the dining room.
Server assistants need strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills. Physical stamina is important, as the role involves standing for long periods, lifting items, and moving quickly between the kitchen and dining area.
Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($17.00) plus tips
