Sous Chef
PASTA LOUISE is looking for a Sous Chef to join the leadership team at our busy, full-service Italian spot in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The kitchen moves fast, the energy is high, and the food is simple, fresh, and made by hand. This is a great role for someone who’s as comfortable jumping on the line as they are leading a team.

What the Job Looks Like

The Sous Chef at Pasta Louise is the right hand to the Executive Chef — a steady, positive presence who helps keep the kitchen running smoothly day in and day out. That means being hands-on in service, coaching cooks, and making sure everything coming out of the kitchen is consistent and dialed in.

You’ll also play a key role in the behind-the-scenes stuff that keeps the place humming: ordering, scheduling, keeping an eye on costs, making sure the walk-in’s in good shape, and generally helping the team stay organized and ready for anything.

A Day Might Include
  • Leading service, expediting, or hopping on a station to keep things moving.
  • Making sure the kitchen crew has what they need and setting a positive tone during busy shifts.
  • Talking through challenges with FOH managers and problem solving together.
  • Supporting menu development, testing dishes, and making sure every plate is consistent.
  • Keeping tabs on orders, invoices, deliveries, and food costs.
  • Checking inventory and making sure everything is stocked and fresh.
  • Helping build the weekly kitchen schedule and adjusting as needed.
  • Keeping the kitchen clean, organized, and ready for a health inspection at any moment.
  • Thinking ahead when big parties or special events are on the books.
  • Working as part of a tight-knit management team where communication and follow-through matter.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Several years of leadership experience in a busy kitchen.
  • Ability to make schedules for the team
  • Manage relationships with vendors and place orders
  • Someone who’s just as comfortable jumping onto the line as they are leading from the pass.
  • Calm under pressure, good communicator, solutions-oriented.
  • Knows their way around inventory, scheduling, and cost control.
  • A team player who leads with respect and positivity.
  • Spanish language skills and POS familiarity are a plus (but not required).

Compensation: Salary ($75,000.00 - $80,000.00)

Pasta Louise has a cafe location, a full-service restaurant, and a gorgeous cocktail bar!

We opened our first location in Park Slope in 2020, during the pandemic. With lines every night and growing demand, we expanded and opened a bigger location just 4 blocks away. We are a very busy neighborhood gathering spot to eat fresh pasta
with amazing cocktails, celebrate a birthday or a wedding, hang out with friends, or bring your in-laws. We have a great wine list, and killer desserts, but best of all, we have an incredible staff who are all happy to be here.

At the cafe you can pick up a coffee on the way to work, and a pasta kit on your way home. YOu can place a catering order for that big party you planned, or sit outside with your dog after a day at the park.

Our cooking is simple and comforting. We have seasonal salads, tasty things to add to your pasta, like burrata, house made ricotta and crispy prosciutto. All of our sauces are made from scratch, and we use local, organic ingredients whenever possible. Our homemade focaccia is pretty fantastic too!

Bar Louise has classic cocktails paired with thoughtfully designed small plates. The art deco decor makes you feel like you walked into a snazzy bar in the 1940s, and the Mid-Century Americana dishes from the kitchen will make you swoon.

Pasta Louise was founded by restauranteur and cookbook author Allison Arevalo. She owns and runs all three locations with her business partner Dan Romero, who is the director of operations.
