We are seeking a Sous Chef to support kitchen operations at Courtside @ Pier 6, our seasonal Brooklyn Bridge Park location (May–October), with a full-time, year-round role that extends into additional projects across the company.
This is a hands-on leadership position working directly under our executive chef and owner with potential for growth into a CDC role.
About Courtside at Pier 6
Fornino is opening Courtside at Pier 6 this Spring - a casual, high-volume, family-friendly sports bar located in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The concept focuses on quality-driven, approachable food in a fast-paced waterfront setting.
This role works closely with the Executive Chef on menu design, systems, execution and day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily kitchen operations during before, during and after service
- Lead line cooks and ensure consistency, speed, and quality
- Execute a focused menu in a high-volume environment
- Assist with ordering, inventory, prep, and food cost controls
- Help hire, train, and support BOH staff
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and DOH compliance
Qualifications
- Experience as a Sous Chef or Junior Sous in a high-volume kitchen
- Wood-fired or live-fire cooking experience strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and operational skills
- Ability to lead a team and run service with confidence
- Solid understanding of prep systems and kitchen efficiency
- NYC Food Protection Certificate preferred
- Spanish or bilingual communication skills are a plus
