Ethel’s Fancy is looking for a motivated and energetic Host to join its team!
We are a fine casual restaurant in downtown Palo Alto, bringing a fun, interactive, and
inventive dining experience to the Peninsula.
Named after our inspirations, the mother and grandmother of our chef and owner. A restaurant that seeks to explore Modern, Seasonal, California Cooking. An epic dinner party of sharing plates, mighty drinks and rocking tunes.
The Host is responsible for coordinating and managing all reservations, seatings, guest assistance, and the flow of guests in and out of the restaurant.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for greeting all guests in a warm, friendly and welcoming manner.
- Accurately recording reservations and doing everything possible to accommodate guest needs.
- Escort guests to their tables without delay. Balance seating to ensure no section is overwhelmed, and avoid long waits when possible.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work environment. Keep all service stations/areas clean and organized at all times.
- Responsible for the general cleanliness and stocking of guest restrooms.
- Relay important information to the kitchen, servers, and guests efficiently, ensuring the dining experience flows smoothly.
- Confirm all outstanding reservations on a daily basis.
- Assist in coordination of events.
- Have a working daily knowledge of the menu, including modifying and printing.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Restaurant experience
- 1 year in a host/maitre d' position
- Experience working with reservation software, Open Table
- Strong communication and multitasking skills
