As a General Manager, you are the heartbeat of your restaurant. You set the tone, build the team, and bring the Pupatella experience to life.

What You’ll Do:
Lead People (your #1 priority)

  • Build, coach, and inspire a high-performing team of Managers and Associates

  • Train and mentor new Managers, guiding them through their first year with consistent, thoughtful feedback

  • Create a culture where people feel supported, challenged, and excited to come to work

  • Hire great humans who align with our values and bring positive energy to the team

  • Develop your team for what’s next—because growth matters here

  • Lead team meetings, set clear expectations, and keep communication strong and transparent

Own the Guest Experience

  • Deliver a standout Pupatella experience—every guest, every time

  • Hold the line on quality: food, service, speed, and cleanliness

  • Handle guest feedback with care and urgency (and turn problems into loyalty)

  • Create a restaurant that feels welcoming, clean, and full of life

Drive the Business

  • Build smart schedules that support both your team and the business

  • Lead local marketing efforts—get involved in your community, create buzz, and drive traffic

  • Increase sales through strong execution, energy, and consistency

  • Set goals, track progress, and celebrate wins with your team

Run a Tight Operation

  • Own your numbers: labor, cost of goods, inventory, and sales performance

  • Ensure systems are in place for inventory, ordering, and cash handling

  • Execute training programs and keep materials fresh and relevant

  • Uphold all policies, safety standards, and best practices

  • Lead the rollout of new products and processes with confidence

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary ($70,000.00 - $75,000.00)

The founder of Pupatella, Enzo Algarme, moved from Naples, Italy to the United States in pursuit of a medical degree. Like most students, Algarme had a craving for pizza… the authentic Neapolitan-style of his hometown. He would venture from one “Neapolitan pizzeria” to the next in search of the perfect pie, with no luck. Frustrated that he couldn’t find authentic Neapolitan pizza, Enzo traded in medicine for pizza, swapped out his textbooks for an apron, and Pupatella was born.

In 2007, Pupatella launched as a food cart in the Ballston neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia, quickly garnering a cult-like following in the community. With high demand and long lines, Algarme decided to move the pizzeria from a food cart to a restaurant space and the rest is history. Now, over 15 years later, Pupatella is a household name for Neapolitan pizza throughout the Washington, DC region.
