Chibanos is a family-owned and run sandwich shop and café rooted in family recipes and a journey that began 100 years ago, when Enrique Fong (Evan’s grandfather) emigrated from China to Cuba in the 1920’s, seeking opportunity and an escape from Communism that he and his family later faced again in Cuba in the 1960’s, prompting them to take a “Freedom Flight” to the US in 1967. Chibanos showcases recipes honed and cultivated over this 8,000 mile journey and through the owner’s family working in restaurants, grocery stores, and home kitchens. Chibanos is the first of its kind in Philadelphia, but the immigrant story and food journey is one that resonates with many people through their varied paths and pasts.

The job details: Line Cook
Full time position, 40 hours a week - pay dependent on experience ($18-21/hr+tips)
At least 2 years experience, breakfast/brunch, short order cooking experience a plus
We are targeting opening in May, with training starting as early as late April
The line cook is at the heart of Chibanos and will be responsible for the cooking during service, station prep and maintaining the walk in. Depending on interest and ability, this role could lead to a Kitchen Manager position. Experience and interest working in a fast-paced environment and keeping calm under pressure are key!

Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($18.00 - $21.00) plus tips
