We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking team member to join our front-of-house staff as either a busser or a runner, helping support the exceptional guest experience that makes Cafe Stella a neighborhood favorite.
Job Description: We are looking for a reliable, energetic individual with a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for hospitality. Depending on experience and team needs, you will be placed in either a busser or runner role. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, anticipates the needs of the front-of-house team and guests, and takes pride in ensuring a seamless dining experience from start to finish.
Busser Responsibilities:
- Clear and reset tables quickly and efficiently between guests, ensuring a clean and welcoming dining area at all times
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room, including floors, stations, and restrooms
- Polish and restock glassware, silverware, and plateware throughout service
- Assist servers by refilling water, delivering bread or condiments, and attending to guest needs
- Assist with setting up and breaking down the dining room before and after service
Runner Responsibilities:
- Run food and beverages from the kitchen and bar to guests accurately and promptly
- Communicate effectively with kitchen, bar, and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service flow
- Ensure correct dishes are delivered to the right tables with proper presentation
- Support servers by relaying guest feedback or requests to the kitchen
- Maintain awareness of menu items and daily specials to answer basic guest questions
Shared Responsibilities:
- Support the team during high-volume service while maintaining attention to detail
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment
Desired Skills and Qualities:
- Familiarity with front-of-house operations and dining room standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Physical stamina for prolonged standing, lifting, and moving quickly
- Ability to carry multiple plates and trays safely
- Anticipates the needs of servers and guests proactively
- Team-oriented with a positive and professional attitude
- Interest in growing within the hospitality industry
Requirements:
- Minimum 3+ years of bussing, running, or front-of-house support experience in upscale or high-volume dining establishments
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Strong work ethic and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings
- Food handler's certification preferred
