Job Overview
Food and customer service is our focus. We give a fork about it! As a part of our front of house team, you will be the face of Farmer J – the first point of contact for our guests. Our baristas should be able to confidently work on a coffee station as well as be trained on other roles in the front of the house in order to maintain the highest level of customer service, product knowledge, and service expectations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve high-quality coffee and specialty drinks in line with Farmer J’s standards
- Deliver warm, welcoming service to every guest—every time
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked coffee station throughout the shift
- Follow food safety and hygiene practices, including correct milk handling and cleaning procedures
- Communicate clearly and positively with guests and team members, even during busy rushes
- Support opening and closing tasks, including setup, breakdown, and deep cleaning
- Stay knowledgeable about the menu and make thoughtful recommendations to guests
- Work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house team to ensure smooth, coordinated service
- Keep calm under pressure and bring positive energy to every shift

Qualifications
- 3+ years as a barista in high-volume, high-quality fast-casual or café-style restaurants
- Comfortable using tools like Toast, Microsoft Office, and other basic systems
- Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards
- Appreciation for real food: scratch cooking, seasonal ingredients, and sustainable practices
- Clear, positive communicator with a team-first mindset
- Calm under pressure and quick to adapt in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English
- Follow written and verbal instructions and have basic math and computer skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business require
