Chef Sujan Sarkar is bringing his Michelin-starred Indian tasting menu concept, Indienne, to New York City this spring. We are seeking polished, hospitality-driven Front-of-House professionals to join our opening team and help bring this vision to life.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the guest experience from the first point of contact, within a highly refined and detail-oriented dining environment.
Position Overview
The Maître D’ is an hourly service role that works closely with the management team and both front- and back-of-house staff. This position serves as a key leader at the door, responsible for managing reservations, pacing the dining room, and ensuring a seamless and elevated guest arrival and departure experience.
The Maître D’ plays a critical role in maintaining and communicating guest information, including preferences, dietary restrictions, allergies, and special occasions, ensuring alignment across the entire service team.
This role also supports the training and development of the host team, while maintaining the integrity and organization of the restaurant’s guest database.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service
- Greet all guests warmly upon arrival and thank them upon departure
- Manage reservations and seating flow to ensure optimal pacing of the dining room
- Communicate clearly and professionally with guests regarding wait times or delays
- Accommodate walk-in guests whenever possible while maintaining service standards
- Maintain a polished, organized, and welcoming front door environment
Reservations & Systems
- Operate and manage reservation platforms efficiently (Resy, SevenRooms required)
- Maintain accurate and detailed guest profiles, including preferences, allergies, and special occasions
- Identify VIPs, industry professionals, and returning guests, and ensure proper recognition and protocol
Team Coordination & Communication
- Act as a leader for the host team, ensuring consistency in service and communication
- Assist in training and updating door staff on menu changes, service updates, and operational priorities
- Communicate effectively with managers and service staff to ensure seamless guest flow
- Support team members across the floor to ensure a cohesive guest experience
Operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area
- Assist with additional operational tasks as needed
- Adhere to grooming and presentation standards at all times
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Lead Host or Maître D’ in a fine dining environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational ability
- Professional demeanor with a genuine passion for hospitality
- Ability to think quickly and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods (7–10 hours), as well as bend, reach, and move throughout the space during service. Reasonable accommodations may be made as needed.
