Tucked beneath the historic Green Door Tavern, The Drifter is an intimate, speakeasy-style cocktail bar known for its ever-changing menu of curated cocktails and small plates, presented through a one-of-a-kind “deck of drinks” experience. With live entertainment ranging from jazz to magic and burlesque, The Drifter delivers a transportive, immersive guest experience rooted in storytelling, hospitality, and craft.
Position Overview
We are seeking a polished, charismatic, and detail-oriented Host to serve as the first point of contact for our guests. This role is critical in setting the tone for the entire Drifter experience. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-touch environment, understands the nuance of hospitality, and brings warmth, discretion, and professionalism to every guest interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests with genuine hospitality and guide them through The Drifter experience
- Maintain an organized and accurate waitlist while communicating realistic wait times
- Escort guests to their tables and provide a brief orientation to the venue and its unique concept
- Coordinate closely with servers, bartenders, and management to ensure seamless service flow
- Maintain awareness of seating capacity, pacing, and guest experience at all times
- Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and concerns with professionalism and poise
- Uphold the ambiance and standards of a speakeasy-style environment
Qualifications
- Previous host or front-of-house experience in an upscale or high-volume restaurant/bar preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to remain composed under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Passion for hospitality, craft cocktails, and unique guest experiences
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and late-night shifts
