About Our Beverage Program:
We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Sommeliers with a strong work ethic and an endless curiosity to learn and grow with our restaurant. Momoya SoHo offers a wine and sake-focused beverage program, emphasizing thoughtful pairings and a curated selection rather than a full liquor bar. Our program highlights balance, seasonality, and harmony with our cuisine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience within a high-quality, focused beverage program.
- Guide guests through pairings that complement our sushi and Japanese cuisine
- Maintain deep knowledge of our wine and sake list, including producers, regions, and flavor profiles
- Assist in curating and updating the beverage program in collaboration with management
- Actively support floor operations, including food and beverage running, clearing, and table maintenance.
- Train and educate staff on wine and sake to enhance overall service quality
- Ensure proper service standards, including presentation and glassware
- Contribute to the daily management of the beverage program (POS management, communicating ordering needs, stocking, menu updates, timely staff updates, etc.)
- Assist with the weekly process for inventory and ordering.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of restaurant experience (Sommelier role preferred).
- Knowledge of sake is highly preferred (or a strong willingness to learn)
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Skilled in impeccable wine service and sharing wine knowledge with guests and service staff
- Ability to assist with ordering and inventory
- Knowledge and/or experience with Japanese food & beverage is a plus but not required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs or a case of wine as needed
- Stand and walk for an entire shift, including moving safely through all areas of the restaurant
