Line Cook — Café Berlin, Capitol Hill

We're a family-owned German restaurant two blocks from Union Station, serving Capitol Hill since 1985. We're hiring a PM line cook.

Start with the schedule, because it's the best thing about this job:

• Dinner service only — no lunch, no brunch, no doubles
• Wednesday through Sunday
• Monday and Tuesday off, every single week
• Five-day work week, consistent hours

If you've spent the last few years working six days with split shifts and no real weekend, this is a different life.

What you'd be doing

Working the line during dinner service in a small scratch kitchen. Schnitzel and sauté, braises and sauces, spätzle, sides and vegetable prep. You'll run your own station on a busy night and help with prep before service. Real cooking, real technique — not a reheat kitchen.

What we're looking for

• 2+ years on a professional line
• Solid knife skills
• Comfortable at a steady dinner pace
• Able to lift up to 60 lbs and stand through a shift
• Reliable — you show up when you say you will
• Available Wednesday through Sunday evenings, including both weekend nights
• Food Handler certification, or willing to get one

Experience with German or European cooking is a plus, but we'll teach the menu to a cook who can cook. What we can't teach is showing up and caring about the plate.

Pay and benefits

$20–$23 per hour depending on experience. Health insurance, dental insurance, paid time off, employee meals and discount.
