Start Date: May 1, 2026
Supervisor: Matt Renskers
Title: Director of Events

About Purslane

Purslane is a Brooklyn-based catering and events company known for thoughtful hospitality, sustainable practices, and producing events in some of New York City’s most distinctive cultural spaces. Our team produces weddings, galas, corporate events, and institutional partnerships with a focus on seasonal menus, strong design sensibility, and seamless production.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a Temporary Event Producer to join our team during a maternity leave coverage period. This role will primarily oversee events (mostly weddings) at one of Purslane’s partner venues while also supporting the planning and execution of new full-service events including nonprofit galas, corporate gatherings, and cultural institution programs booked during the coverage period.

This is a highly client-facing role responsible for managing events from post-sale through execution, ensuring every event is planned with precision and delivered to Purslane’s standards of service, hospitality, and sustainability. The position reports to the Director of Events and works closely with our Sales, Culinary, Operations, and Service teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Planning & Client Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients following the sales handoff and guide them through the event planning process from contract through execution
  • Manage planning and logistics for events taking place at the assigned partner venue during the coverage period
  • Lead client calls, venue walkthroughs, and planning meetings
  • Ensure all event details are captured, communicated, and executed accurately

Event Production

  • Develop and maintain detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for each event
  • Coordinate rentals, layouts, timelines, and overall event logistics
  • Collaborate with venue teams and external vendors to ensure smooth execution
  • Support event-day operations on-site as needed to ensure client expectations are met

Operations Coordination

  • Partner with the Sales team to ensure smooth client transitions and continuity
  • Work closely with Purslane’s operations, kitchen, and service teams to prepare for events by participating in production meetings and internal planning sessions
  • Coordinate delivery timelines, equipment needs, and staffing plans with our operations team
  • Assist with securing required permits and administrative documentation

Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years experience in catering, venue management, or event production
  • Strong understanding of NYC event logistics and venue operations
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and comfortable managing multiple events simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communicator with a polished client-facing presence
  • Familiarity with BEO systems, rental coordination, and event timelines
  • Passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences

This is a temporary position covering maternity leave, anticipated to run approximately 6 months, with the potential for extension.
