About Chi Restaurant and Bar

Chi Restaurant and Bar is a vibrant and stylish Chinese restaurant and bar in the heart of New York City, known for its refined yet approachable cuisine, warm hospitality, and elevated dining experience. We bring a modern sensibility to traditional Chinese dining, with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients and impeccable service.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced General Manager to support the leadership team and help guide daily operations while continuing to build on Chi's reputation for exceptional hospitality.

What We Are Looking For

  • Coordinating, leading, and directing our FOH Team Members (including bar) through documentation and detailed SOP
  • Exercising good judgment and decision making in escalating concerns and aggressively resolving issues
  • Preparing and leading daily pre-shifts
  • Reviewing daily minutes from service and creating action plans for improvement
  • Responsibility for compliance with OSHA, local health and safety codes as well as Company safety and security policies
  • Reporting to the Management team efficiently to ensure smooth operation between different departments
  • Holding team members to the proper Image and Appearance Guidelines including proper hygiene
  • Observe day-to-day operations

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of restaurant experience, with at least 1-2 years in a management role in an upscale, full-service restaurant
  • Previous experience as an Assistant General Manager, Bar Manager, Floor Manager, or Service Manager preferred
  • Strong understanding of the New York City dining landscape and guest expectations
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a high-volume environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience supporting labor management, cost control, and operational systems
  • Passion for hospitality, food, drinks, and guest experience
  • Familiarity with reservation and POS systems such as Resy, Toast, Yelp, or similar platforms
  • Ability to speak conversational Chinese (Mandarin) strongly preferred, to effectively communicate with chinese guests and staff
  • General understanding of Chinese culinary traditions, dining customs, and hospitality culture, including family-style service, tea culture, and regional cuisine distinctions
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
