American Sardine Bar has been serving Point Breeze for more than 14 years with creative plates, craft beer from small breweries we know and love, thoughtfully chosen low-intervention wines, strong cocktails, and a vibe that’s unmistakably our own. We’ve grown and polished over time, but at our core we’re still the same neighborhood restaurant and bar where regulars gather and new guests quickly feel at home.
Who We’re Hiring
We’re expanding our team and are looking for a Host to join us.
Hosts are the first point of contact for our guests and play an important role in setting the tone for service. This position manages the flow of the restaurant by greeting guests, organizing the wait list, coordinating seating across multiple dining areas, and communicating closely with bar, servers, and managers throughout service.
This role requires strong communication skills, good judgment, and the ability to stay calm and organized during busy service periods.
Reservation Management
Manage and monitor reservations using our reservation system, coordinating with servers and managers to maintain a smooth flow of service. Communicate clearly with the service team about upcoming reservations, table pacing, and seating priorities so tables are available when needed.
Guest Greeting & Seating
Welcome guests warmly, manage the wait list, and seat tables in a way that supports the pace and balance of service across the restaurant.
Flow of Service
Coordinate with bar and servers to maintain a steady flow of guests throughout the evening, including communicating about table changes, drink transfers, and other adjustments needed during service.
Dining Area Awareness
Maintain awareness of table status across the restaurant’s dining areas and communicate with the service team to help keep things running smoothly.
Teamwork
Jump in to assist the team when needed — whether that’s helping run drinks, clearing a table, or assisting with small tasks that help keep service moving smoothly.
Schedule
Expect 2–4 shifts per week, primarily evenings. Weekend availability is required.
Requirements / Qualifications
Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to stay organized and composed in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable managing reservations, wait lists, and guest communication during busy service periods
Dependable and consistent with scheduling and attendance
Flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of a busy neighborhood restaurant
Comfortable working both indoors and in outdoor dining areas, including in warmer temperatures
Able to remain standing and active for extended periods
Clear communicator, team-oriented, and genuinely interested in hospitality
Must be available to work nights and weekends consistently
Training & Onboarding
New hires complete a 2-4 day training program designed to set you up for success, followed by a 60-day probationary period. During this time, you’ll work closely with managers and trainers to learn our systems, service flow, and expectations.

Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($15.00 - $18.00)
