Chef Daniel Boulud and The Dinex Group are seeking a Senior Event Sales Manager to support the Director of Events in driving private dining and special event sales for one of the city’s premier culinary destinations.

This role is responsible for generating and managing private dining and event business, cultivating strong relationships with corporate and social clientele, and ensuring the seamless planning and execution of events that reflect the restaurant’s exceptional standards of hospitality, cuisine, and service.

The Senior Event Sales Manager will oversee the entire event lifecycle — from initial inquiry through execution and post-event follow-up — while maximizing revenue opportunities and delivering an elevated client experience. The position requires a polished hospitality professional with strong sales instincts, operational awareness, and a deep appreciation for fine dining service standards.

Working closely with the Director of Events, culinary leadership, front-of-house management, and sommelier team, this individual will ensure that every event reflects the elegance, precision, and hospitality expected of a Michelin-starred restaurant.

This position offers a base salary plus commission.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Event Sales & Client Development

  • Promote and sell the restaurant’s private dining and event experiences to maximize revenue and occupancy across all event spaces.
  • Respond to incoming event inquiries promptly and professionally, ensuring timely follow-up whenever possible.
  • Actively cultivate new business through outreach, networking, and relationship-building with corporate planners, executive assistants, luxury concierges, and social clientele.
  • Develop customized proposals and event experiences that reflect the restaurant’s Michelin-level culinary offerings and service standards.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance revenue through curated menus, beverage pairings, specialty experiences, and other event enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, communications, and bookings within event management and reservation systems.

Event Planning & Client Management

  • Coordinate all administrative event details with clients from inquiry through event completion, including:
    • proposals and contracts
    • menu development
    • deposit and final payment collection
    • rental coordination
    • vendor communication
    • event logistics and timelines
    • Conduct site visits, tastings, and planning meetings with clients to ensure clarity and confidence throughout the planning process.
  • Serve as the primary client contact for assigned events, delivering a polished and highly responsive client experience.
  • Provide expert guidance on menu selections, wine pairings, room layouts, and event flow in collaboration with the culinary and sommelier teams.

Event Coordination & Execution

  • Coordinate logistical event details from planning through execution, including:
    • floor plans and room layouts
    • vendor coordination
    • rentals and specialty décor
    • event timelines
    • client preferences and dietary needs
    • menu cards and printed materials
  • Prepare and distribute weekly Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event documentation to all operational departments to ensure seamless execution.
  • Attend and oversee events as needed to ensure client satisfaction and alignment with the restaurant’s standards of hospitality and service.
  • Greet hosts and clients upon arrival and remain available to support the service team with any adjustments or requests during the event.
  • Conduct post-event follow-up with clients to ensure satisfaction and cultivate repeat business.

Sales Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate event documentation including:
    • BEOs
    • menu cards
    • event details
    • itemized billing
    • deposits and payment tracking
    • client records
  • Support the Director of Events with sales reporting including:
    • revenue pacing
    • booking trends
    • deposit tracking
    • commission reporting
  • Track performance metrics and contribute to strategic initiatives that support departmental revenue goals.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with the below to ensure every event reflects the quality and sophistication expected of a Michelin-starred restaurant.

  • Assist in maintaining departmental organization, systems, and procedures that support efficient event operations.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with high-profile corporate and social clientele.
  • Strong understanding of fine dining service standards and luxury hospitality expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to sell, plan, and manage high-end private dining experiences with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong negotiation and sales skills with a proven ability to convert inquiries into confirmed bookings.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with culinary, operations, and beverage teams.
  • Proficiency with event management and reservation systems such as Tripleseat, Resy, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of the New York City hospitality and events market preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an Events or Catering Sales position within a Fine Dining, Forbes-rated, or Michelin-starred restaurant environment required.
  • Experience generating $2M+ in annual event revenue within a team producing $3.5-4M+ in total event revenue.
  • Experience supporting high-volume private dining programs or large-scale event production is a plus.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and a variable schedule based on business needs.
  • Strong appreciation for and knowledge of food, wine, and hospitality.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, Resy, AllSeated, and Tripleseat required.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in private dining, event sales, or luxury hospitality events.
  • Experience working in fine dining restaurants, Michelin-level establishments, or luxury hotels preferred.
  • Previous experience generating event revenue and managing high-end client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant food & beverage operations and service standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
