Job Details

Join Choux and help craft simple joy, one pastry at a time.

Choux is an artisanal French dessert shop in San Francisco, known for French pastries made with heart, filled with flavors. We’re looking for a talented, hands-on Pastry Chef to join our growing team and help bring our signature creations to life — from beautifully baked choux, canelés, and financiers to seasonal specials, decorated cakes, and refined French desserts.

This is a great opportunity for someone who loves both the artistry and discipline of pastry, takes pride in consistency and presentation, and wants to be part of a warm, quality-driven kitchen.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare and bake French pastries including choux au craquelin, canelés, financiers, meringues, and other classic desserts

  • Execute recipes with precision, consistency, and attention to detail

  • Pipe creams, fillings, batters, and decorative finishes with speed and accuracy

  • Fill, assemble, glaze, garnish, and decorate pastries and cakes to Choux standards

  • Support production planning, mise en place, and daily kitchen organization

  • Monitor baking times, textures, and finishes to ensure product quality

  • Help with seasonal menu development and creative pastry ideas

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe workstation

  • Support inventory awareness and communicate prep needs to the team

  • Contribute to a positive, reliable, and team-oriented kitchen culture

Skills and experience we’re looking for

  • Experience in a pastry kitchen, bakery, or French dessert environment

  • Strong knowledge of French pastry techniques

  • Hands-on experience making choux pastry, canelés, financiers, cakes, and other delicate baked goods

  • Comfortable with piping, filling, glazing, garnishing, and decorating

  • Ability to execute both small-batch artisanal production and higher-volume prep with consistency

  • Understanding of doughs, batters, custards, mousses, creams, and baking fundamentals

  • Strong attention to detail, presentation, and cleanliness

  • Ability to follow recipes precisely while also troubleshooting when needed

  • Good time management, efficiency, and ability to stay calm under pressure

  • Passion for quality ingredients, craftsmanship, and beautiful desserts

You’d be a great fit if you are

  • Passionate about pastry and excited by French desserts

  • Precise, organized, and dependable

  • Fast with your hands and thoughtful with your finishes

  • Proud of beautiful presentation and consistent execution

  • A team player with a positive attitude

Eager to grow with a small business entering an exciting new chapter
