Empire Cake, a popular gourmet American-style bakery in Greenwich Village, is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time (24-32 hours/week) barista/counter representative position. Must be available two weekend shifts, ideally closing shifts.
The Evening Barista / Counter Person is responsible for serving baked goods, coffee drinks and closing the bakery.
The perfect candidate should have the following qualifications:
* A welcoming smile and personality
* Strong counter experience. This position involves mostly serving baked goods to customers and taking cake orders.
* Barista skills. We feature Stumptown coffee and a La Marzocco machine, and candidates should have experience with both manual espresso machines and manually-adjusted grinders.
* A patient and friendly attitude with customers, even demanding ones.
* Opening/closing experience.
* Good judgment and common sense, and an ability to remain calm under pressure, thrive in a busy environment, and multitask.
* A love of coffee and baked goods.
* Self initiative and a willingness to help in a dynamic team environment.
* An ability to work with a team, a big smile, and a good sense of humor.
Salary Range - $18 - $19 per hour depending on experience, plus tips
Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($18.00 - $19.00) plus tips
